This page is a comparison of a selction of shots showing how it is rendered in HDR and in sRGB. The HDR version was generated in Lightroom using up to 4 stops of HDR headroom and output as HDR P3. Your monitor may not show a difference, or it may not show a difference on some browsers but show a difference on others. On an M1 Macbook Pro with the display set to the appropriate profile, as of this writing, it shows HDR in Brave and Chrome, but not in Safari.

Some weather scenes

Sunset in Austin Texas.
In sRGB the brightness of the sun is limited.
Interesting aftermath of an afternoon storm.
In the distance was a severe thunderstorm with frequent lightning.
Without the HDR, the brilliance of the lightning is reflected on the clouds but is not evident directly.
Another brilliant sunset.
This is about as bright as it gets in sRGB.
Sun rays created by gaps between the clouds.
The presence of the sun just isn't very evident in the sRGB rendering.

Newsworthy

This car fire was on the lower level of northbound I-35 in Austin in the wee hours of the morning.
Without the HDR, the effect of the fire is suppressed (also the other lights).

Astronomy

The day old moon was setting just behind Mars right after sunset.
Moon/Jupiter conjunction
Total eclipse viewing atop Josie's Ridge in Wyoming in 2017.
This was before totality when the brilliance of the sun still required protective eyeware.
Here it is the bright color in the clothing and sky that are more affected by HDR.
More waiting around for the arrival of totality.
As totality approaches, city lights come on as the sky darkens.
Seconds before totality, the city of Jackson is dark.

Landscapes

View of Tetons from Josie's Ridge.

Aviation

A squadron on vintage planes flies through the weather.
Travis County Starflight.
Aerobatics competition

Nightclub

HDR renders the flood lights as actual light sources.
Both HDR and sRGB show posterization when the levels are clipped in raw.
HDR renders the neon as neon.
In sRGB the neon looks blah.

Birds

Snowy Egret.
The pure white of this bird is hard to capture in sRGB.

Snowy Egret.
The reflections of the sun off the ripples doesn't work on those pure white feathers.
Great Blue Heron.
Readhead - maybe that white is a bit too bright.
Pied-billed Grebe
Pied-billed Grebe against the sun
The sun in the background doesn't really work here.
Hooded Merganser
Red-Winged Blackbird
Summer Tanager
This is actually quite close, but the HDR really makes the color pop.
Backlit hummingbird
The strong backlighting is quite distracting in this photo. The sRGB version may actually be better for this one.

Insects

Plants and Flowers

False Dayflower
Mesquite in the sunlight
Without the HDR the brilliant green lit by sunlight surrounded by shade just doesn't work.
